It’s not easy to “say yes” to a custom wedding dress! The bride must be able to visualize and be confident in the changes she wants to make. The customizations may be as simple as changing the color of the gown, adding straps, or lining the back of the gown. They could also be as complex as removing all beading, lace, and appliques. The Vision and Creative Thinking
Ava Clara bride, Abby, took a leap with her custom wedding dress and made those complex changes. She knew what she wanted in a dress, and she felt that the Emerson gown from Beloved had potential. Abby was lucky enough to work with Ava Clara’s owner, Alex, and together they created Abby’s dream dress. The Emerson gown originally has a lot of different details and features. Abby liked the shape and feel of the gown, but she was looking for something with a little less detail. The Emerson gown had enough to like that it didn’t feel like a totally different gown would be the one, but a new gown was created nonetheless.
The Sketch Phase
Alex created a sketch of the front and back of the gown with the changes Abby was looking for to show to the designer. The sketch phase of creating a custom wedding gown requires patience. Depending on the complexity of the custom dress, the designer and bridal consultant often go back and forth until the vision of the bride is met. The designer was able to work with us and create the dress Abby dreamed of!
The Vision is Brought to Life!
Simplicity is more for a lot of brides! The dress that Abby, Alex, and the designer brought to life is classic, timeless, and elegant. Abby did remove a lot details from the gown that some love, but she did keep the most beautiful lace on the back. The lace lying on the nude tulle creates a striking illusion of floating beauty on Abby’s back. When Abby came out in her custom dress at her try on appointment, her mom and sister were in awe. The final result was better than expected, and the vision was indeed brought to life!
