At Ava Clara Bridal, we know that no two brides are alike. That’s why we specialize in custom wedding gown creations, like classic and elegant bride Avery’s custom Augusta Jones dress!
When bride-to-be, Avery, traveled to see us from DC, we knew we had to help her find her perfect wedding gown. She had searched all over for the perfect dress for her wedding at District Winery in Washington, DC, an urban winery with a scenic river view. She finally found what she was searching for in scalloped lace, off-the-shoulder gown, “Phoebe”, by Augusta Jones Bridal.
“I fell in love with the straight off-the-shoulder neckline and I struggled to find a dress that offered it. This [“Phoebe”] was the only dress I could find that had it. Many people offered to make a lace neckline for the dress but knowing what it looked like would have been a surprise,” explained Avery.
Although the dress had her dream neckline, she preferred the beading and ballgown skirt of the “Edith” gown. That’s when we convinced Avery that a custom bridal gown might be for her.
“I decided that it was the most important part of the dress to me so being able to basically take the top half of one dress and put it on the bottom half of the other, was absolutely perfect.”
What Avery is describing is what we in the bridal industry call a “Hybrid Gown”. It’s like dressing a paper doll in real life! With some creative clipping, we outfitted her in the top of “Phoebe” and the bottom of “Edith” to create Avery’s dream dress, a custom Augusta Jones dress.
“Being able to create the gown that I was looking for was not only making my dreams a reality but allowed me to know that I was going to have the dress I wanted. It really helped make planning for the day that much better.”
The clean and modern setting of District Winery offered a blank canvas for our bride’s romantic vision.
“We brought in candles, tons of greenery and flowers to warm the space up. We were married at 6 p.m. on their terrace and the attire was black tie. The dress was the perfect translation of our space. Elegant and classic, and the lace made it so romantic. The day was absolutely perfect and the dress made me feel that much more special.”
