Custom Wedding Dresses – Feature in Vows Magazine

Educating Brides

If you’ve been following our social media pages, you know that we are so excited about our feature in Vows Magazine, the leading magazine for bridal and wedding professionals! In the article, Alex explains what goes into creating a custom wedding dress and the special experience that a bride can expect when she books a bridal appointment at Ava Clara. Here are some of the highlights!:

“We are all about product knowledge of all designers, especially the ones that specialize in customization, as we are the niche boutique for couture gowns.”

“For some girls, visualization is difficult. So, if a gown is strapless and a bride says she does not want that, she’ll try something with cap sleeves or we’ll pick up the train and put it on the side of her arm to represent some sort of a sleeve. A lot of times, my staff and myself grab fabric and we will pin it on so the bride can see what we’re talking about.

Custom Bridal Gown

When I talk about hybriding gowns – a girl likes the bodice of one dress and the skirt of another – we’ll put her in one dress and put the other dress on top of it. I started doing that years ago with a designer who cuts everything head-to-toe on each dress.”

“About fabrics, we can show them the difference between satins – not all shiny – and for example that taffeta doesn’t have to sound like rain.”
